The Pegasus Program is Launched!

Pegasus Teachers has wonderful news! We’ve launched an exciting new program with 100 new positions for September 2008! And these lucrative positions are filling quickly! So, you need to apply now!

The application deadline for these incredible positions is only 10 days from now – May 24, 2008.

As many of you know, the demand for English language teachers in Korea is growing at an unprecedented rate. It is no longer simply the private schools that need teachers. In an effort to
enhance its English programs, the Korean public school system needs foreign teachers too!

In response to this demand, the passionate people at Pegasus have created the Pegasus Program. And we are sure that it will soon become Korea’s premier resource for foreign teacher placement in public schools!

In a nutshell, the Pegasus Program will assist the Korean government with its vision while also offering new teachers support at every stage of the teaching abroad experience. This incredible program is different than any other because of the sense of community and group belonging it can provide for its teachers who will be collectively transitioning into work and life abroad. All Pegasus Program positions are in the same city and there will be numerous extra-curricular opportunities.

The September program is accepting applications for positions in the thriving, scenic, coastal city of Ulsan.

THE POSITIONS:

Teaching in Korean primary and secondary public schools as part of the Korean government’s aim to promote and strengthen English language education.

Minimum requirement: Bachelor’s Degree; experience teaching not necessary

Contract Term: September 1, 2008 – August 30, 2009

Training: 10 days paid training/orientation, at an all-inclusive corporate training resort, upon arrival

Arrival date in Korea: August 25, 2008

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8am – 4pm; no split shifts; no weekends
(the best hour package for exploring Korea, meeting people, and making the most of your time teaching abroad)
Actual class instruction time will not exceed 22 hours. At least 18 hours will be available for in-school prep time. Overtime, if worked, will be paid additionally.

Pay: 1,800,000-2,500,000 based on experience.
Upon arrival, teachers will get a 300,000 signing bonus.
One month bonus salary upon completion of contract.

Location: Ulsan, a mere 40 miles from Korea’s second largest city -- Busan


Other important details:
Vacation days: 14 working days; 15 sick days

Airfare: round trip travel reimbursed within first month

Housing: single furnished housing provided; couples housing available

Health insurance: local medical insurance provided...50% covered by school (cost approx $20/mth)

# of other foreign teachers in the school: up to 5

# of students attending school: 300-1,000
